Every chapter of Alpha Phi is united by a single goal when it comes to philanthropy. Internationally, Alpha Phi’s philanthropy focuses on Women’s Heart Health. As the Delta Theta chapter of Alpha Phi, we organize various events to help raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation. The Alpha Phi Foundation divides donations into several categories including women’s heart health, scholarships, and leadership programs. Our chapter holds one main event to raise money and we have a lot of fun while doing it: The Red Dress Gala! The Red Dress Gala is Alpha Phi's annual philanthropy event, held during the month of February. Families, friends, and alumnae are invited to enjoy an elegant evening of food, drink, and fun at a formal venue. All proceeds from Red Dress Gala benefit Alpha Phi Foundation and Women's Heart Health. The Red Dress Gala that was held in November was a huge success! We held a cocktail reception with delicious food, silent auction, live auction, fun activities and had live music. We were able to donate a significant amount to the Alpha Phi Foundation thanks to all of our wonderful donations and participants.
ABOUT ALPHA PHI:
Ten founders formed Alpha Phi in 1872 at Syracuse University. Today, Alpha Phi continues to provide a "tie which unites, a circle of friends" for women young and old all around the world. From hand to hand and heart to heart, we are all grateful and proud of the legacy left to us by our founders. The sisterhood of Alpha Phi stretches from coast to coast with over 160 collegiate campuses and more than 200,000 members. Sisters share a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to help one another and their communities. Alpha Phi's are leaders, scholars, contributors and lifetime members of a sisterhood that value these traits.
The Delta Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi was originally established as a Colony in 1961 and officially became a chapter at Western Michigan University in the Fall of 1962. The Delta Theta Chapter became the 80th chapter of Alpha Phi. The beautiful chapter house at the end of Fraternity Village Drive was built in 1967 for 48 women. Alpha Phi was the first sorority to be built on Western Michigan University's campus. As women of the Delta Theta chapter, we cherish the history of our sorority, as well as our chapter history. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Alpha Phi. Our mission is to continue supporting one another in lifelong achievement as we strive to live by our values. Alpha Phi International Fraternity is a membership organization dedicated to promoting sisterhood, cultivating leadership, encouraging curiosity, and advocating service. Alpha Phi develops character and friendships for a lifetime.
